Avoiding cavitation

One problem that can occur when operating a pump is the breakdown of vapor bubbles in the pumped medium. This typical phenomenon is called cavitation.

Cavitation limits the performance of the pump and causes damage. What is cavitation? NPSH values are used as measurands. The NPSHP value of the plant must be higher than the NPSHR value of the pump, the minimum distance should be 0.5 m. Due to the construction there is only a low risk of cavitation with HYGHSPIN twin screw pumps, thanks to the axial pumping only minimal turbulence occurs.
