..these are the main goals of Avangard Malz. The location of the four locations, spread all over Germany, ensures short transport routes and access to the most important barley growing areas in Europe. The quality of the raw materials brewing barley and brewing wheat is the basis for meeting the requirements and expectations of our customers in the best possible way, even in difficult years.
The production of malt is an energy-intensive process. Most of the energy used and consumed is obtained from fossil fuels. A considerable amount of CO2 is released in the process. We try to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. We have been using the waste heat from neighboring companies for a long time to heat the kilns in Gelsenkirchen and Koblenz and are trying to implement this in the Grossaitingen plant as well. There and in Koblenz there are block-type thermal power stations in operation that make maximum use of the energy used. We have been using 100% electricity from renewable energy sources since the beginning of 2020.
As far as possible, the raw materials are obtained from the surrounding area or delivered by inland waterway vessels. We use barges to transport containers for deliveries to our export customers to the large container ports on the coast.
The wastewater is treated in two separate sewage treatment plants.
We can offer a wide range of malts: two-line summer barley malt, two- and six-line winter barley malt, pale ale malt, Viennese malt, Munich malt, light and dark caramel malt and wheat malt. The malt can be loaded loose into ships, trucks, containers and rail wagons. A high-performance bagging system enables all types of malt to be delivered in sacks. Our customers, from home brewers to industrial brewers overseas, appreciate the quality and service.
