About us

EvodiaBio is a science-based start-up applying precision fermentation processes to produce natural and environmentally friendly hop aromas, Yops.

At EvodiaBio, we have developed a unique and patented technology that enables the production of key aromatic molecules using baker’s yeast. We use these molecules, individually from a fermentation process, to create hop aroma blends especially developed for non-alcoholic beer.

Non-alcoholic beers represent the fastest-growing segment in the global brewing industry, expected to reach 15-20% of the total world volume by 2026. However, studies show that despite a strong desire from consumers, non-alcoholic beers remain marginally adopted.
To solve the quality problem of non-alcoholic beers, we have developed Yops, a range of natural blends that mimic the aroma profiles of various hops. Yops greatly surpasses the state of the art, providing a superior, consistent brewing product at a lower cost. Yops are tailor-made blends of natural aromas that can replace partly fresh hops, pellets, or hop oil. Furthermore, Yops can go beyond the typical aroma of hops and adjust promptly to the fast-changing consumer trends. In fact, Yops goes beyond traditional hop aromas, as its flavor can be twisted and modified according to brewers’ goals and needs.

Particularly for producing high-aroma non-alcoholic beers, Yops is a highly effective and cost-effective solution.
Furthermore, as Climate Change threatens European hop crops, whose yield and quality will keep decreasing, finding an environmentally friendly solution to support the beer industry is imperative. EvodiaBio has a strong focus on sustainability and will help to achieve SDGs #6 (Clean Water) and #13 (Climate Action) by vastly lowering land use, water consumption, beer loss, and CO2 emissions compared to traditional hops farming and increasing the resilience of the beer industry.
