Water that is too hard can have a negative influence on the brewing process, so it may have to be softened to determine the water hardness and pH value. The photometer HI96736 is particularly suitable for this purpose. It measures the hardness in the lower range from 0 to 4.70 mg/L (ppm) and thus provides information about your water quality. Further single and multi-parameter photometers for the analysis of beverages are available at Hanna Instruments. The HI833xx series multi-parameter photometers can be extended by a pH electrode. A particularly interesting measurement is the determination of the alcohol content. Although Hanna Instruments does not offer its own reagents for this purpose, with the aid of a reagent kit from Megazyme, it is possible to determine the alcohol content with our iris HI801 spectrophotometer. Once a method has been created, the samples can be easily analyzed according to the instructions or with a slight adjustment.
