About us
Hop Growers Union of the Czech Republic represents Czech hop growers. The Union is also the founder of the Hop Research Institute which is focused on breeding, plant protection and cultivation technology. Saaz variety of the Czech Republic is appreciated as a number one of fine aroma hops . The Czech Republic is the largest producer of fine aroma hops in the world. Hops are grown in regions Saaz, Auscha and Tirschitz. Žatecký chmel (Saaz hops) is inscripted on a list of Geographical Indications in EU as the Protected Designation of Origin. Czech hops - 21 registered hop varieties, eg. Saaz, Kazbek, Sládek, Premiant, Agnus.
