Augmented-reality glasses are the latest tool introduced by SMI to make customer assistance easier, faster and smarter. This tool is the solution of a problem that has recently become part of business life: travel restrictions due to the spread of the pandemic. It is not easy to remove physical distance, however it can be reduced and SMI's AR smart glasses have been added to SMI's online services in order to achieve this purpose. By using AR smart glasses, SMI Help Desk is able to provide customers with audiovisual assistance. In particular, what the operator is seeing is displayed in real time on the computer screen of SMI help desk technician. Audiovisual assistance allows SMI help desk technician to guide the machine operator step by step and help him identify and solve the problem. As a result the machine downtime is considerably reduced and the productivity level remains high. All of this without the need of an on-site intervention, with saving on time and costs. Moreover, as images are a powerful communication tool, with AR smart glasses it will be possible to avoid long messages and even to overcome linguistic barriers.
All these advantages are combined with an extreme ease of use: in order to be put in contact with SMI help desk, the technician just needs a Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac network connection, a valid license and a pair of smart glasses.
